What is a workers’ comp doctor?

A workers’ comp doctor is a New York Workers’ Compensation Board–authorized provider who treats job-related injuries and bills the treatment to your employer’s Workers’ Compensation insurance rather than to you. We evaluate your injury, deliver care across the specialties you need, and complete the medical reports (such as the C-4) that the Board and the insurer require.

How New York Workers’ Compensation works

  1. Report the injury to your employer — in writing, within 30 days of the injury.
  2. See an authorized provider. You generally have the right to choose any NY Workers’ Compensation Board–authorized treating provider for your care.
  3. Get evaluated and treated — examination, imaging if needed, and a treatment plan, with work-status documentation for your employer and insurer.
  4. We bill Workers’ Comp directly, so authorized care is $0 out of pocket.

Coverage and authorization rules depend on your claim and employer’s insurer.

Common workplace injuries we treat

Hand and finger injuries at work

Hands and fingers are the most frequently injured body part in workers’ compensation claims — caught in machinery, struck by a tool, crushed in a door or a press. Because grip is what most jobs depend on, even a small break can mean weeks of modified duty. See our guide to broken fingers and broken hands, or the wider fracture care overview.

Pinched nerves and sciatica

Back injuries from lifting, bending, or falls — most often a lumbar strain or sprain rather than a disc injury.

Coordinated care & return-to-work documentation

We combine orthopedic evaluation, chiropractic care, physical therapy, pain management, and on-site digital X-ray in one plan — and we provide the medical reports and work-status documentation your employer and the insurer need at each step.

Your first visit

Bring a photo ID, your employer and claim information (if you have it), and details of how the injury happened. We’ll evaluate you, image if indicated, begin treatment, and complete the required Workers’ Comp forms — typically the same day.
